If you are looking for a fantastic cheesesteak and don’t have time to drive all the way to Philadelphia, look no further than Chiddy’s Cheesesteaks, a food truck turned restaurant with locations across Long Island, including one in Commack.
Chiddy’s, which was established in 2014 on Long Island, opened its first restaurant in 2018. Known for its authentic Philly-style cheesesteaks, it quickly gained popularity and currently there is even a location in Citi Field, home of the New York Mets.
There are many great family meal deals, sides, and even empanadas to choose from. Here are some of the best items that I have tried from the establishment:
Priced at $12.50, their classic Chiddy’s Signature is bursting with flavor, overflowing with delicious, high-quality steak alongside peppers, sauteed onions, and mushrooms all loaded on top of a fresh roll. This is a must have for anyone in search of a Philly staple.
The Mac Chiddy, my favorite item that I tried, has their steak topped with creamy homemade mac n’ cheese. I think that this is the crown jewel of Chiddy’s Cheesesteaks, a perfect blend of an iconic sandwich and a twist.
The mac n’ cheese spills over the sandwich and is perfect to pair with an orange soda, in my opinion. It is huge, so don’t be surprised if you cannot finish it all by yourself. This item costs $16.50 and is worth every penny.
When it comes to sides, their mac n’ cheese is savory, although I prefer it on top of a cheesesteak as opposed to by itself. The fries are fresh and crispy, with a unique taste that differs from fast food places such as Wendy’s or Burger King. Sizes vary, but for a small both items are under $10, making it hard to say no to their delectable homemade sides.
At the Commack location, the environment is immersive, with the wall where you order being designed to look like a food truck, and Pearl Jam posters hanging on one of the other walls. The workers are always helpful and kind at Chiddy’s.
Overall, Chiddy’s Cheesesteaks gets two thumbs up for its delicious and original food. They have a long menu, so even if cheesesteaks are not your thing, there is certainly something for everyone at Chiddy’s.
Located at 2189 Jericho Turnpike, Chiddy’s Cheesesteaks of Commack is open from 11:30 am to 9:00 pm Monday through Sunday.
