One of the most unique things about someone is that they have various talents, hobbies and unique abilities, which applies to Spanish teacher Luz-Adriana Ramirez, who on top of teaching, has a restaurant, a rentals and catering business, and is also an avid traveler.
Ramirez is constantly reminding her students about the various hobbies and business that she runs.
“ I have had the restaurant [Sergio’s Missione] for four years, and I have been doing catering for five years now. But only during the summer time,” said Ramirez.
Ramirez has a very close relationship with the service industry, having worked in various parts of it since her high school days. Overall, she loves the service part of her restaurant and catering.
“I’ve always been around catering, food, and the service industry in general. I always thought I was going to be doing something like that instead. I know for myself that I need to be busy all the time,” said Ramirez.
After working in both the service industry and teaching, Ramirez realized they shared many similarities. Once you are in one, it helps the other. Any person has the trait of needing to be entertained or engaged. Knowing this, Ramirez applies it to both her students and customers.
“You always want to go and update what you are doing. You always want to be changing and keep going, doing something new or people will get bored. Everything is the same, dealing with people. You need to have a certain assertiveness with students and children.” said Ramirez.
Every day in her classes, Ramirez tells her students about various trips she has taken, adventures she’s been on, and things she has experienced.
“[Each class] should be a learning experience, you always should be having an ‘oh moment’. I think, what’s the purpose to anything or to life without that?” said Ramirez.
