Junior Luke Jovans is consistently bowling 300’s as one of Suffolk County’s top bowlers.
“[He is] one of the hardest working bowlers I have known,” said bowling coach Dr. Brian Gasser.
Jovans is very committed in his bowling endeavors so much so that he brings six different bowling balls to practices and games in order to make sure he is at his best.
“He invests countless hours in practicing […] and brings a high energy [level] to our matches,” said Dr. Gasser.
Jovans has two colleges left on his list who have recruited him, Trine University and Purdue University.
“[Trine and Purdue] have very good bowling programs[…] [Purdue] is really good right now, they’re ranked number #1,” said Jovans.
Jovans also relies on Dr. Gasser for pointers throughout matches and practices.
“I provide him with advice on what I see from his shots and how the lane is reacting and changing. Luke is responsible for using that information, adjusting, and executing his shots,” said Dr. Gasser.
Jovans’ inspiration to get into bowling came from his father.
“He was pretty good[…] and I just wanted to join him and have fun,” said Jovans.
Jovans’ skills and leadership makes him a well-rounded bowler.
“He engages with his teammates when they do well on the lanes, cheering them on. He is happy for the success of his teammates, as well as his own,” said Dr. Gasser.
Jovans makes sure he stays in perspective.
“Make your spares, have fun, don’t be too intense on yourself, it’s just a game,” said Jovans.
