One staple of Commack is the many pizzerias that can be found practically anywhere. With numerous locations and signature meals, every pizza place is guaranteed to have the most fundamental food: a slice of cheese pizza.
I bought and tried a slice of cheese pizza from 5 different pizzerias to see where to get the best slice for the best price. With such a simple type of pizza, having a sweet sauce, a lot of cheese, and flavorful seasonings is essential.
Filetto’s
The pizza from Filetto’s had a relatively sweet sauce with a good amount of cheese. The crust was thin, but not that crispy. It was a pretty standard slice of pizza. If you find yourself in the area, don’t hesitate to sit down at Filetto’s to grab a slice.

La Scala
The pizza from La Scala had a sweet and flavorful sauce. There was a lot of cheese and Italian seasoning on top. The crust was thin and crispy. It was my favorite slice of pizza and would definitely get my vote for most flavorful.

Gino’s
The pizza from Gino’s was not very flavorful and lacked seasoning. The sauce wasn’t sweet, and the crust wasn’t crispy. There wasn’t a lot of cheese on top either. Despite it not being the most flavorful slice, the nice seating at that location made it worth stopping by.

Emilio’s Italian Kitchen
The pizza from Emilio’s was flavorless and didn’t have a sweet sauce. The dough was slightly undercooked and there was too much crust on top compared to the amount of cheese and sauce. If you find yourself at Emilio’s, consider trying something else on the menu.

Mario’s Pizzeria
The pizza from Mario’s had a very nice thin and crispy crust. There was a good amount of cheese with a decent amount of flavor, but the sauce was too thick. For those planning on trying this pizza, make sure to skip the dinner rush to avoid the long lines.
