If given one wish to make a change to our campus, students propose lots of ideas. Many students would change it for their own personal benefit or to make their school life easier.
“I would add [another] tennis court because during the tennis session when it would get really dark we would have to end early, so another tennis court would really help us to finish our matches,” said sophomore Katelyn C.
Adding another tennis court would be beneficial for the tennis teams, as it would allow for more matches to be played at once. This would also be helpful for the rest of the school as it would allow for more gym classes to play more games at once and they can double as pickleball courts for people who play pickleball outside of school.
“I would [also] let people go to the cafeteria whenever they wanted instead of needing a pass,” said Katelyn.

This is a change that students have thought about especially when one finds themselves hungry but without a pass.
“I would want more AP [Advanced Placement] class selections because we are so strict on IB classes,” said sophomore Damien M., via text message.
This would offer a lot more classes that students can take besides the IB classes, which can be a relief for those who feel more suited for AP style classes.
“[I would suggest] slightly shorter periods and maybe a 10th period, but periods are more like 32-35 minutes each,” said Damien.
Most students have dreamt about shorter periods and adding a 10th period would allow for students to express their passions by adding another elective or study hall, without having to sit through a full 40 minute period.
“I would remove the cell phone ban because I find myself in situations where I need to tell my mom something but can’t,” said sophomore Mahika K.
Removing the cell phone ban has definitely been on students’ minds and a mandatory state law for New York.
“Starting school at 8:30 [would be my wish] because students would get more rest and would be able to concentrate more,” said Mahika.
Starting school later would help students become more involved in school and less tired in the mornings as they are able to sleep in a little more. Although there are no magic wishes, students have ideas for what would make their lives in high school better.
