Students throughout all grades express their thoughts and opinions on tests such as the PSAT and SAT and how they can study for them.
There are many major tests that are taken throughout high school, with the Scholastic Aptitude Test (SAT) being one of the most significant. There is a lot of anxiety, stress and planning involved with preparing for the SAT’s since most colleges require a minimum test score of 400 as part of the admissions criteria according to PrepScholar.com.
“I watched a lot of YouTube videos and took time to review past SAT’s and practice SAT’s […] the biggest thing is to give yourself enough time to study,” said senior Melanie R.
When taking any given test, giving yourself enough time to study and remember information is essential for achieving high exam scores.
Some people believe that the SAT’s should be abolished or at least optional, as it does not test your knowledge, rather it tests how well you can memorize material that teachers reviewed. Others believe that you should take extra time to rest or you may get burned out.
“Self care is important because the world doesn’t start and end on a test […] we all want to do good in life but that shouldn’t be something that defines us as a person,” said freshman Dhanshree P.
Taking time for yourself is a great way to unwind after a long day. Having a break for the mind is important for your mental health or else you can get overstressed on work that is not worth the struggle. With this being said, if you take too much time out of your day to relax, there is not a lot of time for work to be done, so finding a balance between relaxing and doing work is essential to being productive and healthy.
“Do not wait till the last minute to study […] spread out the studying and divide it so you can actually manage it and stay on top of your work for the entire quarter so when it comes time to take the test, you aren’t stressed on struggling to remember everything,” said junior Sophia N.
Balancing preparation, studying, and taking time for yourself to relax and recuperate are ways students can be ready.◼️
