Students returned back from the summer to new procedures involving student IDs, which has caused some mixed opinions.
The student ID requirement was implemented last year, but this year there have been new procedures that have also been added. New scanners were added that students have to use at various locations. Last year, students only had to scan into the bathroom and library with their IDs. This year, students have to scan into various places, such as entrances to the school building, the cafeteria, the bathrooms and the library.
Some students think that signing into certain places, like the bathroom can be a hassle.
“It’s okay to come inside and outside the school, but not to go to the bathroom because the lines are long,” said sophomore Rishika S.
Although some students think that this is a positive idea, some students also think that the technical issues can be tedious.
“It is good for our school’s safety, but signing into the bathrooms can sometimes be a hassle and there are a lot of malfunctions with it,” said sophomore Alishba F.
Some of the students would prefer to not have these procedures in place, but they understand that it is for the safety of the students and staff.
“[The new procedures are] okay, but they’re for safety, so I’ll deal with it,” said Rishika S.
The new sign-in procedures have changed students’ daily routines, and are now a part of the daily routine. Some students dislike it, some students appreciate it, and sometimes students are right in between. As for the IDs, one major request has surfaced.
“If I had to change something, it would be the quality of the ID because my face is coming off of it,” said Rishika S.
These new ID procedures are still a work in progress and it is another adjustment for students for the sake of safety.◼️
