Attending SUNY Cortland
The past four years at Commack High School have had a huge impact on my life, as I have learned and grown from many different experiences.
A lot has changed throughout high school, including my freshman year, which took place during the COVID-19 Pandemic. As half of my classes were in person and the other half virtually, getting involved in Commack High School was difficult. I was unsure of my interests at the time and was open to trying new things. It was challenging to meet new people and continue to be involved within my community as well. When my friend mentioned joining The Courant, journalism piqued my interest. It never crossed my mind before, and now I am grateful it has.
Ever since journalism has taken a part of my life as I learned about many new things in the Commack High School community. The Courant has given me the opportunity to engage in different areas of the school, such as clubs, news, and opinions, as I have been able to learn firsthand through interviews. As I am learning more about different activities within the school, it also allows me to shine a spotlight on these activities. Although I don’t plan on pursuing journalism in college, I am grateful to have experienced and been a part of The Courant throughout my high school career.
I would like to thank Mrs. Semple for showing me the remarkable appeal of journalism. She has influenced her passion and love for journalism in this club, which has affected the members of the club as their love for journalism continues to grow.
As I step into the next chapter of our lives, my passion and love for journalism will forever impact my future as a student. ◼️
