Italian night is an event by the Italian Honor Society at the high school that was held on Thursday May 16, to bring together families and friends from various cultures to enjoy Italian food and festivities.
“One of the founding traditions is family time, and quality time with love,” said Italian Honor Society adviser, Carmelina Zitarosa.
Italian night allowed for students to bring their friends, and family to get insight into a new culture and experience something that connects all, food.
Different types of pastas were served including family recipes.
“For Christmas and other holidays like Easter, she (great grandmother) makes us a variation of dishes and one of those is sweet potato gnocchi,” said junior Alex M.
People were able to come up to the station and try the sweet potato gnocchi for themselves; though it is not a very common dish, trying a new variation of it allowed for others to appreciate family time and the importance of tradition.
The event had over 150 people attending, and many of them were able to experience such a night filled with food, music, and entertainment. ◼️
