Stanley cups have become the new it cup while Hydro Flask has been cast aside, so it seems that Hydro has a new competitor.
According to Retail Dive and Spoon University, Stanley cups have recently become viral while the retired Hydro Flask became popular in mid-to-late 2019 and early 2020. Both the Hydro Flask and the Stanley cup have many varieties in size, style, and carrying capability not only that but the ability of wanting a cup with a straw attached or not.
“[On a scale of 1-10] I would give [a Stanley] a 9.5 only because it leaks,” said sophomore Felicia M.
A problem specifically with Stanley cups is the spillage problem. The company has resolved the problem with an accessory that is only available as a separate purchase. To resolve the problem, the straw stoppers are what prevents water spillage. Hydro Flasks have different types of accessories as well as straw lids and strap holders.
“If I had to pick, I like the Stanley cause it has a handle[…]I would give it a 9, [and Hydro Flask] a 7,” said junior Gina P.
A common reason for Stanley’s new popularity is due to the handles and also pricing seems to be a reason that one cup is favored more than the other. Hydro Flask’s price range is around $29 to $65 according to the Ecoway Houseware and Stanley’s range is $45 to $100, according to The Knight Times. Hydro Flasks and Stanleys can be purchased in any retail store nearby.
“[On a scale of 1-10] I would give Stanley an 8 out of 10 and the Hydro Flask […] 7 out of 10” said junior Juliana S.
Recently in the news there has been a concern about Stanley cups containing lead. The answer would be yes, Stanley does have lead but due to the stainless steel it isn’t possible for consumers to ingest it unless the stainless steel is damaged in any way. If concerns for faithful cup users are about health related to in Stanley cups there really is nothing to worry.
Hydro Flask and Stanley both have their pros and cons, but it comes down to the decision that it is solely based upon personal preferences.◼️
