As we say goodbye to 2023, we must also say goodbye to some of the fashion trends we’ve seen this year.
Below, some students of CHS explore the most popular fashion trends of 2023, and state which should continue into 2024, and which are better left in 2023.
Ins:
Many new trends in the fashion realm have been introduced this year from hairstyles, to
clothes, jewelry and more.
“My favorite fashion trend of 2023 was the white hoodie trend, they’re super comfortable and I loved the wide variety of colors. I think it works this year,”
said junior Caitlin R.
The “clean girl aesthetic” was a trend that many girls fell into throughout the year, and with the sweat sets and claw clips, it looks like the aesthetic is here to stay.
“I think claw clips really dressed up a normal ponytail and added to the outfits this year, and should definitely continue in 2024,” said junior Leyla B.
The controversy between gold and silver jewelry has been an everlasting rivalry for some time.
“I think gold chunky jewelry with a slick back ponytail was definitely a look for this year.” said Caitlin R.
“I think silver jewelry is classier than gold jewelry,” said junior Emily K.
I guess we will have to see who wins the battle of the metals later in 2024.
Outs:
Now that we’ve had the chance to examine the “ins”, let’s delve into the “outs.” Many trends have had their prime, but it’s time to let go of a few.
“The Urban Outfitters corsets have been way overdone, and aren’t very flattering,” said Caitlin R.
These corsets made their first appearance back in 2021, but Caitlin feels they have served their course.
Thin eyebrows were a trend in the 90s and recently made a comeback in 2023, but Leyla feels they should go as well.
“I really love the soap brows and the full, bushy eyebrows, and I think that people should embrace their natural brows. It looks much better than the thin, over plucked ones,” said Leyla B.◼️
