Hey Commackians!
As the days get warmer and schoolwork becomes a bit more lighthearted, the end of the school year starts to settle in. Soon, the seniors will be throwing up their caps at graduation and underclassmen will be enjoying another summer break. With that being said, this is sadly the last update of Treasurer Talks this year…But, as always we are here to share with you the latest news in our school community and the Office of Student Life!
Firstly, we want to extend a huge congratulations to the athletes of CHS! The varsity baseball team claimed not only the title of county champions, but Long Island champions as well and will be on their way to states! In addition, the boys varsity tennis team has also claimed the title of county champions and will compete in the Long Island Championships. Lasly, congratulations to the boys varsity badminton team who claimed the title of Suffolk County champions!
Secondly, our Olympic-themed spring spirit week leading up to the explosive Battle of the Classes were huge successes! It was so nice to see everyone back in the gym to enjoy an indoors BOTC. The atmosphere was vibrant, the school spirit was elevated, the classes were competitive, and the crowds were wild! At the end of the competition, the seniors emerged victorious, followed by the sophomores, juniors, then freshmen.
Recently, elections for both new class boards and a new Student Life board were held. We want to congratulate all those students who were elected and we can’t wait to see how you impact our
community! As for the Office of Student Life, the five seniors will move on to the next chapters of their lives while the two underclassmen will remain in the office, with new impending roles and big shoes to fill.
I, Eunice, will soon be moving on from the Office of Student Life. Within such a bittersweet moment, I want to thank the people that have made my experience that much more enjoyable and memorable. To my StudLife officers and advisers, it was truly a privilege to collaborate with a group like you all. Our tireless efforts of painting banners, long nights of back to back events, and daily meetings only made our bond that much stronger. I can genuinely say that you all are like family to me and I will miss the times I have spent with you. The office will forever remain one of my most core memories and I will definitely return to see how much it has grown in the future! Lastly, I want to thank Casey for being the best co-treasurer and co-writer- I’ll miss you!
I, Casey, will remain a member of the Office of Student Life, acting as President for the 2024-2025 school year. On behalf of myself and the entire student body, I want to thank all the seniors on the board this year, who have truly made a difference in our school community. For me, not only have these people inspired me to be the best version of myself, but they are my best friends, who have given me memories that I will forever cherish. It is crazy to think that one year ago today, I was just meeting you all because I am so grateful for our strong friendships. Thank you Eunice, for being my partner in crime, both in the treasurers’ office and in this column. I will miss you so much next year. Congratulations to all the seniors on this board on your achievements and your future endeavors. Thank you to everyone who participated in events, spirit week, and class competitions! We enjoyed making memories for you all and I can’t wait to do this all again next year!
Signing off,
Casey and Eunice
