Summer whereabouts

Summer is the time to make memories and have fun. During this break, you might want to explore Long Island. Here are some places you might want to visit:

Outdoors:

    • Belmont Lake State Park
      • Address: 625 Belmont Ave, West Babylon, NY 11704
      • During the summer, this park includes pedal boats to ride along the lake. Additionally, the park has picnic tables to sit around with family and friends.
    • Robert Moses Beach
      • Address: Robert Moses Causeway, Babylon, NY 11702
      • This beach has a boardwalk to explore and visit the lighthouse. Additionally there is much wildlife and a long sandy beach.
    • Adventureland
      • Address: 2245 Broadhollow Rd, Farmingdale, NY 11735
      • Adventureland is a fun amusement park that is open in the summer and includes many fun rides. This summer the new ride called the “Fire Ball” is open to the public.
    • Sunken Meadow State Park
      • Address: New York State Reference Rte 908K, Kings Park, NY 11754
      • This park includes a boardwalk that looks over the Long Island Sound. With a beach, you can enjoy time under the sun.
    • Long Island Game Farm
      • Address: 489 Chapman Blvd, Manorville, NY 11949
      • This farm is a great place to visit animals. With over 200 animals, you will be able to interact and feed some of the animals. Some of the species at the farm are giraffes, lemurs, camels, zebras, lambs, and many more.
    • Old Westbury Gardens
      • Address: 71 Old Westbury Rd, Old Westbury, NY 11568
      • The Old Westbury Gardens is an estate that includes a mansion converted into a museum. Around the house there are acres of different plants to explore. A guide gives a tour of the inside and outside of the mansion.

  • Vanderbilt Planetarium & Mansion
    • Address: 180 Little Neck Rd, Centerport, NY 11721
    • In Vanderbilt Planetarium, you are able to attend a show on different aspects of outer space. Outside the planetarium, you can also visit Vanderbilt’s vacation mansion and see his collections of items like furs and insects.
  • Commack Public Library
    • Address: 18 Hauppauge Rd, Commack, NY 11725
    • Want to read good books over the summer, go to the library!
  • Long Island Aquarium
    • Address: 431 E Main St, Riverhead, NY 11901
    • The Long Island Aquarium is a great place to see some aquatic life. The aquarium includes sharks, seahorses, sting rays, and even more. Don’t forget to see the seals play in a show!
  • The Cradle of Aviation Museum
    • Address: Charles Lindbergh Blvd, Garden City, NY 11530
    • This museum shows artifacts of Long Island’s contribution to the history of aviation. Additionally there is a planetarium to view a show on aspects of outer space. 🔳
